Favorite Things About Fall

September 25, 2015

Happy belated first day of fall! I love all things autumn — hoodies, fires, cool evenings, beautiful fall sunrises. Today I’m sharing my top five favorite things about this season.

Favorite Things About Fall | Running on Happy

Favorite Things About Fall

1. Apple picking and apple fritters.

Every year, my husband and I take the kids to go apple picking. Coincidentally, the local orchard also specializes in making the most delectable pies, donuts, and apple fritters. The baked goods are to-die-for. If you don’t get there early enough, the 8 gagillion trays of fritters are empty and you go home empty-handed. It’s a sad, sad day when that happens, friends. Lesson here? Get there early.

2. Fall trail running.

There is nothing better than running in the warm fall sunshine with the sound of crisp leaves crackling and crunching under your feet. The smell, the sounds, the beauty of nature. But watch out for wet leaves. Those can be dicey.

3. Hot apple cider and a campfire.

One of my favorite things to do is drink hot apple cider next to a cozy campfire. The warmth of the cider and the smell of a small campfire… Add in some marshmallows for roasting? Perfection.

4. Puffy vests and fleece shirts.

I am a huge proponent of puffy vests. I wait all year long to wear mine. Summer is much too hot for a puffy vest. Winter is far too cold. And spring is usually just too darn wet. But fall… that’s where it’s at. Bring on the puffy vests!

5. All the holidays.

All the fantastic Jewish holidays are in the fall: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. Then we’ve got Halloween and Thanksgiving. Who could ask for more?

Apple picking, trail running, and puffy vests. Fall is where it's at! #FallFavorites #runchat

That sums up a few of my favorite things about fall. I have plenty more but I would say these are definitely my top five.

Happy weekend, everyone!

I'm totally giddy about fall and cider, PSL, boots, and no longer sweating in my house. 🙂

Ugh, yeah, just delete that Friday! I am super excited because this fall Alex and I are going to Michigan for a mini vacay and I am going to force him to go apple picking and drink allll the cider.

That apple cider drink looks delicious. Almost something that looks like you could have gotten it at a coffee shop. I bet it was way cheaper to make though.

Oh, I didn't make that! My friend enjoyed it at our favorite diner. 🙂 I do have hot apple cider packets though. They're pretty tasty but nothing fancy. Lol.

I just love how excited everyone is for Fall this year. And apple fritters, I always forget about those because everyone is always obsessed with pumpkin, can’t forget about the apples. I think this will be our last weekend in the 80’s on the east coast, so I am excited to get out the boots, oversized sweaters, and scarves soon!

Apples are far superior to the pumpkin. They’re just humble about it. 🙂

Yes to the boots! I love my boots.

I LOVE my puffy vests, but I also wear them all through winter as well….a lot of times as an “indoor” vest on really cold days. I love them for running, too, because they’re just warm enough, but( minus the sleeves), they don’t have the bulk of a jacket.

I’ve never run in my puffy vest. I think I would get too hot. But I do love them so!
