The Best Places to Eat in the CLE

February 12, 2016

TGIF, people.  I’m not sure what about this week made it any longer than other weeks but I’m exhausted and all mom’ed out. I need a break! I think I’ll take a few hours and drive around by myself on Sunday. Happy Valentine’s Day to me!

Speaking of food — I wasn’t? That’s odd. I totally thought I was… anyway…

Cleveland Eats | Running on Happy

I just happen to live in one of the best food cities in the country and thought I should share some of these neighborhood gems with the world. I know what you’re thinking: “Cleveland is NOT one of the best food cities in the country.” Au contraire, my friends. Cleveland has been recognized by Forbes Travel Guide, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, Unique Eats, and many other shows and publications as a leading tourist locale for fabulous eats.

As such, in no particular order, here are a few of my favorite places to nosh in the CLE:

Trendy

Fire Food & DrinkFire | Running on Happy

Blue Point Grille

Moxie

Sara’s Place

Paco’s Tacos

Comfort Food/Deli/Sandwiches

Dave's Cosmic Subs | Running on Happy

Dave’s Subs

Yours Truly

Jack’s Deli

Corky & Lenny’s

Grums Sandwich Shoppe

Italian (but mostly pizza!)*

Mama Santa’sMama Santa | Running on Happy

Master Pizza

Rascal House

Geraci’s

Pizzazz

Mediterranean

Tommy’s**

Aladdins

Dervish Grill

Taza

The Mad Greek Restaurant

Chinese Food

Hunan by the Falls | Running on HappyHunan by the Falls

Ho Wah

Li Wah

Hunan Coventry

Happy Buddah

In hindsight, I didn’t realize when I set out to discuss Cleveland’s food scene how many awesome places there were. I was intending to include only five but as you can see, well — there are many, many more than five. And this is only a tiny sampling of the phenomenal fare found across the city. If you’re local and haven’t tried some of these on the list, I implore you to do so. You won’t regret it. And if you’re not local, I hope you make it to Cleveland some time. When you do come, bring this list with you and your belly and taste buds will thank you!

TALK TO ME!

What’s YOUR favorite kind of food?

Do you have a “go to” list of restaurants to suggest when someone comes to visit your city?

*how could you expect me to only list five? I could keep going what with Little Italy and all…

**while Tommy’s isn’t a true Mediterranean style restaurant, I only get their Mediterranean fare, which is why I listed it as such.

This post is linked up with Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia for the Friday Five.

Mmm, food. We pretty much hit brewpubs when we visit a new city. You need to add that category LOL.

I have never been to Cleveland to experience any of their great restaurants. You can never go wrong w pizza though. That is definitely my weakness.
