16 Smoothies to Fuel Your Training Cycle

January 30, 2017

As you probably know, I’m currently in training. And I’ve found myself really, really hungry — again. My life: run, eat, shower, sleep, repeat. I think “eat” can be thrown in there a few more times for a more accurate picture. But eating can be so frustrating when I’m in training. I want to fuel with the best foods possible but I seemingly can’t stay satiated! I don’t want to load up on garbage but what to do? Oh, I’ll tell you what to do…

You smoothie!

Today I’ve rounded up some of the best smoothie recipes within the blogging community. I lovingly call this the “Training Cycle Smoothie Roundup.” Because let’s face it, smoothies can pack a lot of nutritional punch if done right. Next time you I we find ourselves with an insatiable appetite, try one of these amazing smoothies. All of these recipes feature real ingredients — stuff you can pronounce. Plus the ingredients are things you actually want in your training cycle smoothie and diet. Enjoy!

Of course, thank you for contributing!

I love smoothies. I usually “go to” blueberries and bananas so having more ideas to choose from will help me with some variety.

Thanks for including me! I was on sucha smoothie kick until I ran out of my peptides and it broke the cycle. But now I make them with lunch more than in the mornings like I was.

Oatmeal is a brilliant idea. Did I see you post that on IG somewhat recently? I can’t remember if it was you or someone else.

I’ve had chocolate protein powder once. I can’t believe it myself…

I need to look these over. I’m not much of a smoothie gal. Unlike you, I’m not a banana gal either LOL I developed a huge aversion to bananas when I was pregnant with our son (second child) and the aversion stuck. I can eat banana bread, muffins, etc., but anything with “unbaked” bananas just w on’t be happening. I know…#highmaintainence

I have a friend who had the exact same experience with bananas during pregnancy! I don’t think she’s gone back to eating bananas either come to think of it. My cousin also hates bananas but completely unrelated to babies.

Banana is my favorite smoothie staple, too. It just makes them perfectly sweet and creamy. I also love frozen tart cherry juice for after long runs.

Fantastic roundup!

I really wish I was more into smoothies, but the texture throws me. I should get a new blender and see if I can’t find a recipe that works for me.

I made a full blender of smoothies tonight – was able to freeze some for my daughter’s lunches. I used mango, pineapple, banana and strawberry yogurt. I would normally use coconut or vanilla yogurt but we were out.

Yum, that sounds awesome. So when she takes them for lunch is it frozen? Does she eat it like yogurt with a spoon?

      Anna @ Pipers Run
      January 30, 2017 at 9:25 pm

I’ll take it out the night before and let it thaw in the fridge. I give it a good shake in the morning to break up any clumps and then use it to keep the other foods cold in her bag. By lunch time it’s good to drink.

        January 30, 2017 at 9:29 pm

This is a great idea. Mind if I borrow it? What do you freeze it in? Sorry for the 20 questions. Haha

Yes, go ahead! I use plastic jam jars. The freeze well and stack on top of one another. The brand I use is called “ball”. You can get them in different sizes. Enjoy!

Some days I jsut can’t get enough to eat and will sit on the couch with a box of crackers and a box of cheese! ha.

Smoothies are my favourite – I have one for breakfast every weekday.

OMG I do that, too. But then I feel like I’m fueling myself with something horrible because it’s not like “real food” and all that… so many eating rules. Lol. Just give me a bag of Doritos.
